Low-Carb Steak Fajitas! Check out this low-carb/paleo/whole-30 recipe!

Fajitas are a popular Mexican dish made with marinated grilled meat, sauteed bell peppers, and onions. It is typically served with rice. Meals of Steel is known for making classic entrees healthy and nutritionally balanced. Our nutritionists and chefs have created a new Mexican inspired dish to get you beach ready! Check out what makes our NEW Steak Fajitas nutrient-dense, protein packed, and heart-healthy!

First, it wouldn’t be fajitas without bell peppers and onions.

Bell peppers and onions make for a very nutritious combination. Both bell peppers and onion contain significant amounts of antioxidants; compounds that slow down the oxidative damage to our cells (1,2). Bell peppers also contain healthy levels of Vitamin A (9), which is essential to reproductive health and vision (10), not to mention, they are vibrant, flavorful, and aide in balancing the dish.

The art of choosing the best cuts of protein!

Steak. There’s no other food quite like it. As always, a great-tasting steak starts out with a good cut of meat. Steak packs such a great beefy flavor AND is an easily digestible, high quality protein (3). It provides 33 grams of protein per 4 ounces (4). Our Steak Fajita dish boasts a lean cut of USDA Prime Top Sirloin with no added hormones.

Skip the carbs! Enjoy the flavor and texture of rice, without the added calories!

Fun fact: according to the CDC, only 9% of adults consume enough vegetables on a daily basis (5). So, besides the fact that cauliflower rice makes for a great low-carb alternative to white rice, 1 cup of cauliflower rice adds an additional 2 servings of vegetables! That means more Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Folate, and Fiber in your diet (6).

Cook with Avocado Oil!

We use high quality avocado oil to sautee our steak and veggies! According to the American Heart Association, “monounsaturated fats can help reduce bad cholesterol levels in the blood which can lower your risk of heart disease and stroke'' (7). So, do your heart a favor by cooking your foods with oils high in monounsaturated fats, like the heart-healthy avocado oil we use in our fajitas (8).

So, what are you waiting for? Order today! Your tastebuds will thank you, we guarantee it.
